People took to the streets of Minneapolis and other US cities for a second night to protest against the killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who was shot in her car by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. Demonstrators marched in Houston, Cincinnati, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and other cities, some with placards calling for the abolition of ICE. People laid floral tributes where Good's car crashed after the shooting, just blocks away from where George Floyd was killed in 2020, sparking weeks of national protests.

Meanwhile, two people were injured in another shooting involving federal agents, this time border patrol in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday afternoon. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the Portland incident occurred during a traffic stop of a Venezuelan gang member, who attempted to run over agents with his car. The Democratic mayor of Portland cast doubt on this account, leading to protests at the city's ICE facility that resulted in six arrests.

Officials have offered differing accounts of the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minnesota, with the Trump administration claiming the ICE agent was acting in self-defense, while local officials insist that Good posed no danger. The FBI announced it would investigate the incident, but a row between Minnesota officials and the federal government over control of the investigation has deepened public concern.

Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension stated they had initially agreed to a joint investigation with state officials, but then reversed course, denying access to materials and evidence. Governor Tim Walz accused the Trump administration of obstructing state involvement in the case, while US Vice-President JD Vance claimed the investigation is a federal issue.

Videos of the incident show ICE agents approaching a car in the middle of the street, demanding that the woman behind the wheel exit the vehicle. As the car attempts to drive off, one agent draws their firearm, leading to several shots being fired. Good's mother described her daughter as terrified during the confrontation. Those who knew Good remember her as a compassionate poet and musician, and demonstrators assert that justice must be served in light of this tragic event.
