Police in the Bahamas recently released Brian Hooker, a Michigan man whose wife, Lynette Hooker, went missing after reportedly falling overboard during a boating trip. The event occurred on the night of April 4, while the couple was traveling from Hope Town to Elbow Cay, a group of small islands.

Brian Hooker stated that his wife, 55, was responsible for the boat’s keys, which caused the motorboat's engine to shut off, leaving him to paddle ashore. He claimed that strong currents quickly carried Lynette away, and he lost sight of her.

Following the incident, Brian Hooker alerted authorities the next day about his wife's disappearance. Despite being in police custody since April 8 for questioning, he has been released as investigations continue. He expressed hope that Lynette might still be alive and is committed to searching for her.

Law officials released him after consulting with prosecutors, who recommended against pressing charges at this time. Meanwhile, the U.S. Coast Guard has initiated a separate investigation into the matter.

The couple, married for over two decades, showcased their sailing adventures on their Facebook page, Sailing Hookers, where they documented their experiences as they traveled through the Caribbean. This year, they posted about acquiring a sailboat named Soul Mate in Texas.

Lynette’s daughter, Karli Aylesworth, remarked that it was unlikely her mother would have fallen off the boat, given her experience in sailing. She highlighted her mother’s skills and expressed concern over the incident.

Interestingly, the couple has a history of domestic incidents; in 2015, both accused each other of assault, although no charges were filed due to a lack of clarity on who initiated the altercation.

As the search for Lynette Hooker persists, her family and authorities remain determined to uncover the truth behind her mysterious disappearance.
