US singer D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenage girl who went missing last year, police say.
The TikTok star, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, was the target of a grand jury investigation into the apparent murder of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose remains were found in his Tesla in September.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the 21-year-old is currently being held without bail, with the case set to be presented to the District Attorney's office on Monday.
D4vd has remained largely silent regarding the case; however, his representatives previously stated he was cooperating with authorities. The police officially indicated his arrest on Thursday amid growing scrutiny regarding the investigation.
Authorities raised alarms after discovering Hernandez’s decomposed remains in the trunk of a Tesla, leading to significant media and public interest. The 14-year-old's body was only identified after a foul odor was reported coming from the vehicle.
Hernandez was last reported missing by her family in April 2024, although she had a history of running away from home. Described as a vibrant young girl, she was known in her neighborhood for her daily visits to the local store.
Further investigation revealed Rivas Hernandez had been wearing specific clothing and jewelry at the time her body was found, including a tattoo matching that of D4vd. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the cause of her death.
