South African TV Icon Arrested After Alleged Kidnapping Incident

South African TV presenter and rapper Molemo Maarohanye, better known as “Jub Jub”, has been arrested following an incident in Edenvale, where he allegedly forced a taxi driver into his vehicle before firing a gun in the driver’s direction.
The police report claims Maarohanye confronted the driver in a dispute over the driver’s relationship with his girlfriend. According to authorities, the driver escaped unharmed and drove to a nearby police station.
Maarohanye, who once held the title of one of South Africa’s most popular musicians, is scheduled to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for an initial hearing.
This arrest comes after a series of earlier legal issues, including a 2012 murder conviction that was later reduced to manslaughter, and a 2023 case of rape and assault that was withdrawn in 2024.
For now, the case remains under investigation, with the National Prosecuting Authority yet to confirm whether charges will proceed.
