An unexpected Israeli airstrike had struck the area overnight, leaving destruction in its wake and triggering a frantic search for survivors among the rubble.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with locals gathering and listening for the desperate sounds of mobile phones ringing underneath the debris. "We’re hearing his phone ringing. It keeps ringing under the rubble,” said Mpsati Mi, 30, an Ethiopian national, who was anxiously searching for her friend Aamal. “He’s not only a neighbor but a brother to me.”
As families anxiously await news, others are scouring hospitals in search of missing loved ones. Ahmad Kalash, a Syrian national, shared his anguish, waiting for any updates on his friend Hussein after also visiting several nearby medical facilities.
Rescue workers continued to pull bodies from the wreckage, highlighting the gravity of the situation as survivors clung to flickering hope despite the overwhelming odds.
