Recent tidal surges have resulted in three fatalities and 15 injuries on the popular Spanish holiday island of Tenerife. Emergency services confirmed that the victims include a woman who was swept into the ocean near Puerto de la Cruz and two men found dead in different locations on the island.

In a particularly tragic incident, a local waterfront rescuer, known only as Pedro, attempted to save individuals caught in the rough seas, managing to rescue a few but unable to save a woman who subsequently died. Eyewitnesses reported a heightened sense of urgency at the scene as waves battered coastal areas, leaving many in peril.

Rescue teams airlifted a victim from La Guancha only for him to later succumb at the hospital, while another was reported dead at El Cabezo beach. The local authorities are currently advising the public to avoid coastal paths and refrain from capturing images of the tumultuous sea conditions.

With forecasts indicating an escalation in sea swells to heights of 2–4 meters, officials have declared heightened coastal hazard alerts across the Canary Islands, urging both tourists and locals to practice extreme caution as the weather continues to deteriorate.
