ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Timothy Busfield, a director and Emmy Award-winning actor, has turned himself over to authorities to face child sex abuse charges in New Mexico. His arrest follows the issuance of a warrant, stemming from allegations involving inappropriate contact with minors during his work on the series, 'The Cleaning Lady.'
The criminal complaint alleges that Busfield inappropriately touched a young boy multiple times, instilling fear in the child due to Busfield's position as the director. Reports also indicate that the boy's twin brother experienced similar incidents but did not initially disclose them for fear of repercussions.
Details from an investigation reveal that the boys’ mother reported the alleged abuse between November 2022 and spring 2024. Support from medical professionals, including reports of PTSD and anxiety in one child, has surfaced as the investigation unfolded.
Busfield, who publicly denied the claims during an earlier investigation, suggested that the allegations stemmed from personal grievances with the children's mother. His attorney and agent have yet to respond to media inquiries.
'The Cleaning Lady,' which aired for four seasons, was produced by Warner Bros., which reportedly did not find enough evidence to support the claims during its own investigation.
