Donald Trump is the only world leader capable of stopping Vladimir Putin from threatening Europe, according to Poland's President Karol Nawrocki.

In an interview with Radio 4's Today programme, he stated that the Russian leader was not to be trusted, but that Europe needed to do everything it could to support President Trump in his efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

President Nawrocki, a firm supporter of Donald Trump, highlighted that with Putin's Russia threatening Poland and the rest of central and eastern Europe, the former US president is the only one who could address the situation effectively.

Referring to last September's mass incursion by Russian drones, in which over 20 uncrewed aircraft crossed into Poland from Belarus and Ukraine, Nawrocki described it as an extraordinary situation, emphasizing that Poland was experiencing significant threats to its defenses.

He appreciated Britain's assistance in deploying RAF Typhoon jets to help protect Poland's borders, noting that Poland has been engaged in a hybrid war with Russia since 2021, dealing with drone attacks and disinformation campaigns.

Nawrocki criticized European leaders for focusing on ideological issues rather than strengthening their defenses, stressing the importance of resilience and security, especially amid current threats.

He also remarked on the significance of Polish-British relations, expressing hope for continued strategic cooperation, and he acknowledged the crucial role of the UK's presence in ensuring NATO's security in the region.
