As climate change becomes an increasingly pressing issue, a recent poll by AP-NORC highlights a growing dissatisfaction among key voter demographics regarding President Trump's policies. The poll indicates a significant drop in approval ratings from Hispanic adults and younger voters, critical segments that had previously supported him.
The survey, conducted from April 16 through April 20, shows Trump's approval among Hispanic voters has fallen from approximately 40% to just 25% since March 2025. Many in this group cite his handling of climate issues and immigration policies as factors in their discontent, particularly concerned about the restrictions that have impacted their communities.
Among young adults, Trump's overall approval also took a hit, declining from 39% to 28%. This demographic is particularly influential as they represent a critical voice in discussions surrounding environmental justice and sustainable policies.
Despite maintaining a loyal base of MAGA supporters, signs of dissatisfaction are emerging within these groups. While 66% of Republicans approve of Trump's performance, this figure has dipped from 82% at the onset of his second term. Analysts suggest that Trump's strategies in handling climate issues and the economy may not resonate as strongly as they did during his first term.
Moreover, with increasing concerns over the rising cost of living and the economic ramifications of climate changes, Trump's administration faces pressures to respond more effectively to the needs and priorities of these populations. As the environmental crisis escalates, the administration's responses will be crucial in shaping public opinion heading into upcoming elections.
Polling underscores the need for a clearer, more proactive approach to climate policy and economic stability. To regain the confidence of disenfranchised groups, Trump may need to address their concerns directly or risk losing critical support in future electoral battles.
