FDA Issues Recall for Celsius Energy Drink Cans Contaminated with Vodka

The US Food & Drug Administration has alerted the public regarding a packaging mishap where Celsius energy drinks were accidentally filled with vodka. This alarming situation has prompted a recall of specific product lots shipped to various states.

The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to consumers to inspect their Celsius energy drink cans as some have been inadvertently filled with vodka. This warning specifically pertains to the Astro Vibe Blue Razz edition of the Celsius drink. The mix-up occurred when a packaging supplier mistakenly sent empty cans intended for Celsius to the vodka seltzer company, High Noon, which subsequently filled them with alcohol.

As a precaution, High Noon has initiated a recall of certain Beach Variety packs that share the same production line as the affected Celsius cans. Fortunately, there have been no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions linked to the contaminated products as confirmed by the FDA.

The recall specifically concerns two production lots, which are detailed on the FDA website. These products were distributed to retailers across Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin between July 21 and July 23. The affected High Noon Beach Variety packs have the retail code UPC 085000040065, with specific lot codes outlined for customers.

For the Celsius cans, consumers should identify those with the retail code UPC 8 89392 00134 1 and the specific lot codes indicated by the FDA. The lot codes can be found lasered on the bottom of the cans. Consumers are strongly advised to dispose of any impacted Celsius Astro Vibe energy drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition cans, and refrain from consuming their contents.

The FDA has reassured the public that High Noon Beach Variety packs with different lot codes are deemed safe and are unaffected by this recall.
