Emarat, the Emirates Petroleum Company P.J.S.C., and Al Fanar Gas Group announced a partnership to expand natural gas supply and infrastructure across the United Arab Emirates, signing a Memorandum of Understanding at ADIPEC 2026 in Abu Dhabi. The agreement positions the two companies to work together on a range of projects that will deliver integrated natural gas, compressed natural gas (CNG), and city‑gas solutions to commercial customers and communities.

The MoU signals a strategic shift towards a coordinated, end‑to‑end approach that will guide projects from the initial planning phase through construction, long‑term operations and maintenance. By combining Emarat’s gas‑supply and commercial capabilities with Al Fanar’s expertise in feasibility, engineering, construction, commissioning and operations, the partnership aims to deliver safe, reliable and efficient gas infrastructure that supports a wide array of customer requirements.

Scope of the Collaboration

The partnership will cover natural gas and CNG supply, the development and operation of central gas systems and transmission connections, and a variety of integrated solutions for city‑gas networks. By focusing on commercial customers and community projects, the collaboration intends to boost the availability of natural gas as a cleaner energy source for businesses, households and public services.

Central to the initiative is the development of new infrastructure that reduces reliance on diesel and other high‑carbon fuels. Integrated projects will allow the UAE to meet its growing energy needs while simultaneously advancing climate‑friendly energy strategies that align with national sustainability targets.

Vision for Sustainable Growth

Emarat’s Chief Natural Gas Business Officer, Nabeel Buti Bin Buti AlMheiri, highlighted the evolving energy demands of businesses and communities. “The energy requirements of businesses and communities continue to evolve, creating opportunities for more integrated approaches to gas supply and infrastructure. Our collaboration with Al Fanar Gas Group will allow us to explore new opportunities, respond more effectively to customer needs, and expand our capabilities across natural gas, CNG and associated gas infrastructure solutions,” AlMheiri said in the announcement.

He added, “Our focus is on developing opportunities that create sustainable commercial value while also strengthening the energy infrastructure that supports economic activity and development across the UAE.”

Al Fanar Gas Group’s CEO, Khaled Ben Said, emphasized the complementary strengths of both companies. “Al Fanar’s experience across feasibility, engineering, construction, commissioning and operations complements Emarat’s supply capability and commercial reach. We look forward to identifying opportunities where this combined approach can deliver safe, reliable and efficient gas infrastructure while supporting a range of customer requirements,” Ben Said said.

The MoU aligns with Emarat’s broader strategy of advancing natural gas infrastructure as part of the UAE’s evolving energy landscape. By integrating supply, project development and operational expertise, the partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of cleaner gas solutions that can lower emissions, improve energy security and enhance the overall resilience of the national energy system.

Through this collaboration, both companies intend to demonstrate that natural gas, when deployed responsibly and integrated seamlessly into modern infrastructure, can be a significant contributor to reducing the country’s carbon footprint while supporting sustainable economic growth.

As the UAE moves toward a more diversified and climate‑centric energy mix, the joint effort between Emarat and Al Fanar Gas underscores the potential of public‑private partnerships to drive substantial advancements in clean energy infrastructure. With a shared commitment to high standards of safety, efficiency and environmental stewardship, the alliance is poised to play a key role in the nation’s journey to a lower‑carbon future.
