A horrific incident in central Stockholm on Friday saw a bus crash into a bus stop, killing three people and injuring three others. Swedish police reported the crash occurred at 15:23 on Valhallavägen street, and the circumstances surrounding it remain largely unclear.

The bus driver has been arrested and is facing serious charges for causing death and bodily harm. However, according to police statements, there are no current indicators that suggest the incident was deliberate.

Authorities are diligently working to establish the identities of the victims, while reports concerning the number of passengers on the bus at the time of the crash are still forthcoming.

Emergency responders were seen at the scene, where images captured the grim aftermath, with rescue crews working on what's been described as a distressing situation where individuals were reportedly trapped under the bus.

A witness, who manages a nearby shop, recounted the terrifying moments when the bus struck a pole in front of the bus shelter, leading to chaos as several people entered the shop, visibly distressed and crying.

A local resident shared her account of seeing the bus 'mow down an entire bus stop queue,' expressing horror as bystanders attempted to assist the injured while others lay unresponsive on the ground. There must have been more people under the bus, she lamented.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences via social media, stating, My thoughts are primarily with those affected and their loved ones, who might have been on their way home to family, friends, or a quiet evening. He emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the cause of this tragic event.
