US pop star Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order after a man repeatedly visited her house in Los Angeles, allegedly trying to break in and refusing to leave.
Carpenter, 27, filed a declaration with the court listing a series of “deeply alarming” incidents. She alleged that a man named William Applegate entered her property, approached her front door, opened the lock, and rang the doorbell while insisting she had invited him. Police arrived and arrested Applegate the same day.
According to Carpenter’s statement, the intruder returned just hours later, loitering outside her home for several hours, and then came back again the following day with his car parked right outside the main entrance.
“His pattern of stalking, trespassing, and surveillance has caused me severe and ongoing emotional distress,” she told the court. “The incident in which he tried to enter my home is among the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced.”
Lawyers for Carpenter presented door‑bell camera footage and asked for both a full court order and a temporary restraining order to protect her, her sister, and her sister’s boyfriend. A judge issued a 100‑yard exclusion zone that includes Carpenter’s house, her car, and her workplace, and also extends to the homes of other residents.
A follow‑up hearing is scheduled for 17 June. Applegate is also due in criminal court for his arrest on the charge of criminal trespassing.
