Overnight Russian air strikes have killed at least four people, including three young children, in Ukraine's north-eastern Kharkiv region, local officials have reported.
Regional head Oleh Synegubov stated that two boys, both aged two, a one-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone struck their home in the town of Bohodukhiv.
Additionally, a 35-year-old pregnant woman and a 73-year-old woman were injured in the attack.
The Russian aerial assault occurs as Moscow resumes attacks following a week-long pause that was reportedly requested by Donald Trump to coincide with a severe cold spell in Ukraine.
Bohodukhiv, located near Ukraine's second largest city, Kharkiv, has faced consistent bombardment in recent days, with prior incidents leading to the deaths of other civilians.
Reports indicate that Russian forces dropped multiple bombs on Slovyansk, killing three individuals, including an 11-year-old girl.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed that Moscow is increasing its pressure in the area, specifically targeting transport and energy infrastructures, leading local authorities to declare a state of emergency over energy situations in Kharkiv.
The situation remains dire as thousands face severe power cuts, with many lacking running water and heating during freezing temperatures.
As international discussions aim for conflict resolution, the plight of civilian populations continues to worsen amid ongoing hostilities.
