Warning: contains details of alleged sexual offences and misconduct

Patrick Bruel, a prominent figure in the French music and film scene, has vigorously denied multiple allegations of sexual assault reported by various women over the span of his career. The escalating accusations include serious claims from television and radio host Flavie Flament, who alleges that Bruel drugged and raped her when she was a minor in 1991. Bruel, now 67, asserts in an Instagram post that he has never forced himself on a woman, nor has he engaged in any manipulative conduct. Nor have I ever drugged, manipulated or tried to subjugate anyone… nor used my fame to abuse or obtain non-consensual relations, he declared.

Born Patrick Benguigui in Algeria, Bruel gained fame in the early 1980s and has remained in the public eye amidst these serious allegations, which have become headline news in France. Following the accusations, supporters have initiated a petition to cancel his upcoming concert tour slated for June across France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada.

Flament’s claims mark one of the many allegations being investigated—approximately 30 women have come forward according to reporting from Mediapart, some of which are being closely examined by prosecutors in Nanterre. In light of these allegations, the French government encourages victims to come forward, emphasizing the judicial system's role in uncovering the truth behind the claims. As the legal process unfolds, Bruel faces increased public scrutiny and a significant turning point in his career.
