Mexican influencer shot dead during livestream

Mexican TikTok influencer César Gastélum, known for comedy videos, was shot dead while livestreaming in Culiacán.

The incident occurred outside a fast‑food restaurant in Tres Ríos on Tuesday evening when two men on a motorbike approached and fired at close range. Gastélum had more than half a million followers on TikTok and was filming with friends wearing bright orange delivery‑driver gear.

This is not the first such killing: last year, 23‑year‑old Valeria Márquez was shot in a beauty salon while livestreaming. Officials say the violence may stem from tensions between the rival factions Los Chapitos and La Mayiza of the Sinaloa cartel.

Police cordoned the area, examined cartridge casings and CCTV footage, but no arrests have yet been made, as the two assailants fled. It remains uncertain whether Gastélum received prior threats.
