Details of the Scam and Arrests

Several people have been arrested in Egypt over an alleged plot by fake judges to defraud people of their money.

The Ministry of Interior stated the scam involved fabricated court scenes and impersonation of judges on social media.

The suspects, an unemployed man and a student, were detained in Cairo and Giza after confessing to forming a criminal gang that promised housing allocation from government agencies.

They admitted staging fake court scenes with the help of others and were found with a firearm, judicial sash, and fake identity cards proving a mock judicial role.

Police also seized social media videos filmed inside a courthouse that the suspects used to boost credibility.

Other court employees were detained and questioned, revealing how the scammers leveraged official positions to gain trust.
