UK rapper Yung Filly, whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has testified at the District Court of Western Australia that the atmosphere between him and a 20‑year‑old woman was ‘good’ following their encounter on a 2024 Perth nightclub tour.
The rapper, who is currently on bail, denies the allegations of sexual penetration without consent, bodily harm, and strangulation, stating he only placed his hand on the woman's waist and no contact occurred below the belt.
He insisted the two were in a consensual relationship when they met at the concert venue, with the rapper arriving in the VIP area as she leaned over the barrier from the general crowd. After their subsequent hotel stay, he claims the vibe was positive while the woman’s phone was taken by his guard as a precautionary step to protect privacy.
Previously, the court heard that the woman reported that after an intimacy that became non‑consensual, she told the rapper to stop. She also alleged that violence followed, thereby prompting the current legal process.
Yung Filly’s case underscores the need for accurate investigations and accountability for artists. His career has included work with YouTube’s Beta Squad, appearances on channel 4’s celebrity version of Bake Off and hosting programmes on BBC Three.
He remains free on bail, having flown to the UK for four months in September and returned to Western Australia for his trial. He has more than 1.8 million YouTube subscribers, 3 million TikTok followers and 2.4 million Instagram accounts.
