DICKSON CITY, Pa. — Emergency crews battled a fierce blaze that engulfed part of Lehigh Valley Hospital on Wednesday night, necessitating the urgent evacuation of all patients, staff, and visitors. Thankfully, all were safely removed from the facility, as confirmed by a hospital spokesperson. The fire, which appeared to be concentrated at the hospital's Orthopedic Institute, was visible in dramatic footage circulating online.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro took to social media platform X to commend the state’s police, emergency management agency, and health department for their rapid response to the incident. He expressed gratitude for the bravery of the first responders, stating, “Thank you to every first responder running toward danger to help their fellow Pennsylvanians.” Shapiro, along with his wife, extended prayers to the families affected by the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and as emergency responders continued their efforts in the early hours of Thursday, U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan Jr. also recognized the rapid and professional response of the hospital teams and first responders, voicing deep gratitude for their commitment to ensuring safety during this challenging time.
