Kiefer Sutherland, the acclaimed actor known for his roles as Jack Bauer on Fox's '24' and the US president in 'Designated Survivor', has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver in Hollywood.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the incident occurred on Monday morning at 00:15 PST (08:15 GMT) when Sutherland reportedly entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver, and made criminal threats. Fortunately, the driver was not injured during the altercation.
After his arrest, Sutherland, aged 59, was released on a bond of $50,000 (£37,000) and is expected to appear in court on February 2.
The LAPD's Hollywood Division is currently investigating the incident, which took place at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue.
This is not the first time Sutherland has faced legal troubles. He has a history of arrests, including a conviction for driving under the influence in 2007 that resulted in a 48-day jail sentence. He was also arrested for assault in 2009, though the charge was ultimately dropped. More recently, he had an encounter with the law in 2020 for an illegal U-turn in Hollywood.
As the situation unfolds, the actor's representatives have yet to comment.
