Hongkongers Unite for Bird Call Contest to Promote Conservation


The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society hosted its first-ever bird call contest on Saturday, with the aim to promote conservation awareness. Bird enthusiasts dressed in costumes to take the stage, mimicking the rhythmic calls of various birds including the Koel, Asian barred owlet, and Chestnut-winged cockatoo.


The competition engaged participants and spectators alike, drawing attention to the diverse avian species found in Hong Kong. The top prize was awarded to Bob Chan for his impressive impression of a Eurasian tree sparrow. This event not only highlighted the rich birdlife in Hong Kong, which boasts over 580 recorded species, but also emphasized the importance of conservation efforts in protecting these remarkable creatures.
