The unfortunate event occurred in an area just north of Dhaka’s international airport and a nearby military air base, where the school caters to students from elementary through high school. Eyewitness accounts detail the chaotic scene as the aircraft, after taking off from the air base, struck the second floor of the school buildings, where third and fourth-grade classes were in session. Reports indicate that the pilot attempted to divert the plane towards a less populated area before the crash but tragically could not avoid the school.
Emon Islam, a nearby high school student, described the devastating sight, saying, “I saw the windows of the aircraft shattered, and it was burning up in flames, with black smoke rising into the sky.” As search and rescue operations continue, the community mourns the loss and rallies to support the victims and their families during this difficult time.
