ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Echosphere) — President Trump warned Russia that he might send Ukraine long-range Tomahawk missiles if the conflict there remains unresolved. This threat indicates his readiness to intensify efforts against Vladimir Putin’s regime using a crucial weapon system.
Trump stated, I might say, 'Look: if this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks.' The Tomahawk is an incredible, offensive weapon. And honestly, Russia does not need that. He mentioned the likelihood of engaging in talks with Russia about this proposition.
These comments followed a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where Trump indicated the same possibility. Do they want to have Tomahawks going in that direction? I don’t think so, he added, claiming that Tomahawks represent a new aggression level.
Russia has recently attacked Ukraine’s power grid, aiming to weaken its energy infrastructure before the winter. Russian officials articulated deep concern regarding the potential for the U.S. to supply Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
During this escalation, Zelenskyy described his discourse with Trump as "very productive," discussing measures to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities, particularly concerning air defense and energy resilience.
Trump's recent rhetoric marks a departure from his previous stance, indicating he now believes Ukraine could regain all territories lost to Russia, contrasting with earlier suggestions for Kyiv to relent for peace. He affirmed his belief that Putin's position would deteriorate should this conflict remain unresolved, stressing the potential for a favorable resolution if actions are taken swiftly.
