A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says.

Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that two boys, both aged 1, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit the house they were staying in.

A 35-year-old pregnant woman and another woman, aged 76, were injured in the attack on Bohodukhiv.

Tuesday night's attack comes as Moscow resumed strikes after a week-long pause during severe cold temperatures affecting Ukraine.

In addition, Russian forces dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk, resulting in two fatalities, including an 11-year-old girl, according to Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin.

Bohodukhiv has been targeted previously this week, with incidents leading to power outages affecting tens of thousands, leaving many without heating in sub-zero temperatures.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian forces have ramped up their operations, particularly focusing on transport and energy infrastructure. Local authorities have declared a state of emergency in the Kharkiv region due to the energy situation.

Calls for an end to the conflict have been made as there are discussions about potential talks next week, with the US encouraging both sides to reach an agreement by June.
