Southern France Hit by Violent Tornado

A powerful tornado struck several villages in southern France, injuring more than 40 people and destroying roofs. Eyewitnesses in the village of Verzeille reported the tornado forming under a thunderstorm, with wind speeds exceeding 100 km/h (62 mph).

Local authorities report that about 2,800 households remained without electricity on Monday evening, and several roads were blocked by debris. The storm also caused significant damage to infrastructure and posed a risk to community safety.

Emergency services are currently on the ground assessing damage, providing medical assistance to the injured, and restoring power to affected areas. Residents are advised to stay indoors until safety is assured.
