Tiger Woods has been charged with driving under the influence following a car crash in Florida, according to police reports.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office indicated that the 15-time major champion also faces charges for property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
On Friday, Woods rolled his Land Rover after colliding with a pressure cleaner truck on Jupiter Island.
Although Woods crawled out of the passenger side of his vehicle and passed a breathalyser test, he refused to undergo a urine test following the crash.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred during the incident, which transpired on Beach Road around 14:00 local time.
Sheriff John Budensiek mentioned in a news conference that Woods exhibited signs of impairment. The DUI investigators came to the scene and Mr. Woods did exemplify signs of impairment, Budensiek stated.
After thorough testing, Woods was arrested and taken to the Martin County jail, where he again displayed no signs of alcohol involvement, passing a breathalyser test with a result of zero BAC. However, he refused the urinary analysis when requested, leading to the additional charge.
He has a right to refuse that test, added Budensiek. There is a statute which he will be charged with for refusing to take that test, but we will never get definitive results as to what he was impaired on at the time of the crash.
US President Donald Trump, upon being asked about the incident, expressed concern for Woods, stating, I feel so badly. [Woods has] got some difficulty. There was an accident. That's all I know. He's a very close friend of mine, he's an amazing person, an amazing man.
According to Sheriff Budensiek, Woods will remain in jail for eight hours and then be released on bond.
