MADISON, Wis. — Morgan Geyser, a Wisconsin woman known for her involvement in a 2014 stabbing incident that categorized her as a criminal case linked to the internet horror character Slender Man, is currently missing. This alarming development was reported after she cut off her electronic monitoring device and left a group home, prompting local authorities to issue an alert.

Police in Madison reported that Geyser, aged 23, was seen last around 8 p.m. on Saturday with an adult acquaintance. Geyser had recently been granted conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute and placed into a group home earlier this year.

The chilling backstory involves Geyser and her friend Anissa Weier, who at the age of 12 lured their classmate Payton Leutner to a park in suburban Milwaukee and attacked her with a knife, resulting in severe injuries. Leutner barely survived the stabbing. The two girls admitted that they believed the assault would earn them a place as Slender Man’s servants, fearing retribution against their families if they did not comply.

Following the incident, Geyser was sentenced to a psychiatric facility where she remained until this year, when she was moved to a group home. Her attorney, Tony Cotton, has not yet responded to requests for comment. Authorities have urged anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact police immediately.

Slender Man was introduced to the internet in 2009 as a fictional horror character that later blossomed into a cultural phenomenon, inspiring video games, stories, and a 2018 movie adaptation. Anissa Weier, who was also involved in the stabbing, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide and was released from the psychiatric center in 2021.
