Authorities have launched an investigation into the tragic killing of Dr. Spencer Tepe, a 37-year-old dentist, and his wife Monique Tepe, 39, who were found shot to death in their home in Columbus, Ohio last week. During a wellness check on December 30, police discovered the couple on the second floor of their residence, both suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene, although their two young children were found unharmed.
Detectives suspect the couple was attacked between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on the day they were found, and the Franklin County Coroner's Office has classified the incident as an apparent homicide. However, conclusive reports will take weeks to finalize.
Investigators Seek Public Assistance
As investigations unfold, authorities released surveillance footage that shows a person of interest walking in an alley near the Tepe home during critical hours prior to the discovery of the bodies. The individual was dressed in light-colored pants and a dark hooded jacket. Police have called upon the public to help identify this person, acknowledging the community's concerns and questions about the incident.
“We know there are questions and concerns surrounding this tragic incident,” a spokesperson from the police department stated. “Detectives are working diligently to solve this case.”
A Deep Community Loss
In honor of the Tepe family, relatives described Spencer as an extraordinary individual with a strong commitment to his community, noting his involvement with the American Dental Association and his passion for the local football teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and Ohio State Buckeyes. Monique was remembered as a loving mother, dedicated baker, and caring planner.
“They were the proud parents of two beautiful children, and every day they showed up with unwavering love and devotion to their family,” expressed cousin Audrey Mackie. The heartbreaking loss of this couple has left the Columbus community in deep mourning as details surrounding the attack remain unclear.
