Body in suitcase turns out to be lifelike doll

Australian police concluded that a suitcase containing a lifelike doll, initially mistaken for a human body, was discovered on a roadside near Oallen.

The find sparked a brief murder inquiry, but forensic testing quickly clarified the contents were not human.

The doll, clothed and bearing hair and a nose piercing, even bore markings that resembled bruises and grazes, contributing to the initial confusion.

Supt Linda Bradbury emphasized that crime-scene integrity was preserved and no regret existed over the treatment of the site.

The investigation has since closed, and the men who discovered the suitcase were informed that their report had prevented potential distress.
