Florida Initiates Criminal Investigation into Influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate
The Tate brothers, recently returned from Romania, face serious allegations in Florida amid ongoing legal disputes.
Florida officials have launched a criminal investigation into British-American influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who recently arrived in the state from Romania, where they are facing serious charges including rape and human trafficking. Attorney General James Uthmeier confirmed that search warrants and subpoenas have been issued as part of this investigation.
In addition to the criminal inquiries, the Tate brothers are confronting a civil suit in the US from a woman who accuses them of coercing her into sex work and subsequently defaming her when she provided evidence to Romanian authorities. Both Andrew, 38, and Tristan, 36, firmly deny all allegations against them.
Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer and self-proclaimed misogynist known for his controversial appearances on media platforms, has garnered millions of followers online. The British brothers have faced a series of charges in the UK for similar offenses, which they also deny.
In a statement, Attorney General Uthmeier indicated that he has directed the Office of Statewide Prosecution to pursue an active investigation into the pair. Uthmeier's approach has been criticized by the Tates' lawyer, Joseph McBride, who claimed that Uthmeier’s remarks demonstrate bias and a lack of ethics concerning an ongoing lawsuit in Florida.
The brothers were initially arrested in Romania in December 2022, where they were accused of serious crimes. Following their arrest, the Tates spent months under house arrest and have since faced further allegations, including sex with minors and trafficking underage persons, all of which they deny vehemently.
As part of their judicial obligations, both Tates are expected to return to Bucharest by the end of March to comply with prosecutors' requirements. Meanwhile, police in Bedfordshire, UK, are pursuing extradition requests for Andrew on separate accusations of rape, human trafficking, and tax evasion. Additionally, four British women have filed a civil lawsuit against Andrew Tate in the UK's High Court, alleging rape and coercive control, highlighting the ongoing complexities of the legal challenges confronting the brothers.
