The beloved star of "Nip/Tuck" and "Charmed" has died after a battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of joy and memorable performances.
Australian actor Julian McMahon, best known for his roles in acclaimed series like Nip/Tuck and Charmed, has passed away at the age of 56. His wife, Kelly Paniagua, confirmed that he died in Clearwater, Florida, after a diagnosed battle with cancer. "Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible," she remarked in a statement to Deadline.
McMahon's rise to fame began as part of the cast of the iconic supernatural series Charmed before he garnered wider recognition with his portrayal of plastic surgeon Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck. The critically acclaimed medical drama ran for six seasons from 2003 to 2010, landing him a Golden Globe nomination along the way.
In an emotional tribute, co-star Dylan Walsh expressed his disbelief, saying, "We rode this wave together and I loved him. Jules! I know you'd want me to say something to make you smile — all the inside jokes. All those years you had my back, and my god, we laughed. My heart is with you. Rest in peace."
Aside from his roles on television, McMahon also portrayed the villain Doctor Doom in two Fantastic Four films released in 2005 and 2007, and had a recent stint in the series FBI: Most Wanted. The show's producer, Dick Wolf, expressed shock at the news of McMahon's passing.
Interestingly, McMahon was the son of a former Australian prime minister and recently portrayed a prime minister in Netflix's The Residence. Over the years, he was married three times, including to Australian singer-actress Dannii Minogue, sister of pop icon Kylie Minogue.
