Allegations Against Crown Princess's Son: Marius Borg Høiby Under Investigation
Norwegian authorities investigate serious allegations against the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, including multiple counts of rape and sexual offenses.
The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høiby, is at the center of a serious legal investigation, with police revealing he is suspected of three rapes along with 23 other offenses. The 28-year-old, who is the stepson of the future king, has faced multiple arrests over the past year, specifically in August, September, and November 2024. Following an extensive 10-month investigation, law enforcement officials have transferred the case to prosecutors who will consider whether to lay charges.
Høiby's attorney, Petar Sekulic, stated that while his client takes these allegations seriously, he denies any wrongdoing in most cases, particularly those related to sexual abuse and violence. His legal troubles intensified after his initial arrest on August 4, 2024, for assault. The Oslo Police District issued a statement confirming that their investigation was thorough, involving numerous interviews, searches, and an examination of extensive digital evidence.
Throughout the autumn of 2024 and spring of 2025, Høiby cooperated with police questioning multiple times. Allegedly, he faces charges that include four counts of sexually offensive behavior, one count of abuse in a close relationship, and two counts of bodily harm. Some sexual offense allegations have been dismissed due to the statute of limitations and evidentiary challenges. The police attorney, Andreas Kruszewski, indicated that there is a double-digit number of victims involved in the case, without disclosing further specifics.
The Royal House of Norway has acknowledged the ongoing legal situation but has declined to comment further.
