STOCKTON, Calif. — A family gathering in Stockton turned into a scene of tragedy when a shooting left four people dead and ten others wounded, according to sheriff’s officials. The incident, which occurred at a banquet hall just before 6 p.m., involved victims of all ages, including children, as confirmed by Heather Brent, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County sheriff’s office.

Early investigations suggest that this may have been a targeted attack, prompting law enforcement to plead with the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspected shooter, who remains at large. San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging anyone with leads to come forward. “If you know something, let us know,” he stated, reiterating the call for the suspected shooter to surrender.

The shooting took place in a banquet hall lined with other businesses, located in a community of approximately 320,000 residents, about 40 miles south of Sacramento. Mayor Christina Fugazzi expressed her sorrow over the tragic turn of events, stating, “Families should be together instead of at the hospital, standing next to their loved one, praying that they survive.”

As authorities continue their investigation, details regarding the victims' conditions remain scarce, with some reported to be in serious condition at local hospitals. The community mourns as they seek answers and a sense of safety in the wake of this devastating incident.
