Tiger Woods has once again found himself at the center of controversy after being arrested for DUI following a vehicle crash last week in Florida. Body camera footage released recently reveals the moments leading to Woods' arrest, with deputies claiming his faculties were impaired.
According to the footage, Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Tatiana Levenar informed Woods, “I do believe your normal faculties are impaired, and you’re under an unknown substance, so at this time you’re under arrest for DUI.” This statement came after Woods had an accident where his speeding Land Rover clipped a truck before rolling onto its side on a residential road in Jupiter Island.
Upon realizing he was being arrested, Woods expressed disbelief, saying, “I’m being arrested?” and was subsequently informed, “Yes sir.” The officers later discovered pills in Woods’ pocket which he identified as Norco, a pain medication which contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen. This discovery was crucial in the investigation that followed.
While Woods denied any alcohol consumption during questioning, he admitted to taking “a few” medications earlier that day. However, his statements were muted in the video as he described his medication use. Despite the incident, Woods has entered a not guilty plea to the DUI charges.
In light of these events, Woods released a statement on Tuesday, announcing he would be stepping away indefinitely to seek treatment and focus on his health. This incident adds to the ongoing narrative surrounding the golf champion, whose history of personal challenges continues to garner public attention.
