US musician D4vd has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder in the death of a teenage girl who vanished last year.

The star, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, is accused of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposing remains were found in September in a Tesla registered to his Texas address.

Burke faces multiple charges including murder for financial gain and for murdering a witness to an investigation, as stated by the Los Angeles district attorney.

During his arraignment, Burke remained silent, with his lawyers entering his plea. They expressed belief that evidence will clear him, asserting that he did not kill Celeste.

The courtroom was tense as Celeste's parents attended the hearing, and Burke's defense team called for an open hearing to review the evidence, including a coroner's report that had thus far been withheld from the public.

In a statement to media, the Rivas Hernandez family emphasized their commitment to honoring Celeste’s memory.

Prosecutors revealed that Celeste disappeared after visiting Burke's house in the Hollywood Hills, and her remains were discovered later in a car owned by him.

As the case progresses, the District Attorney’s office indicated they may consider seeking the death penalty, with charges highlighting horrific details surrounding the case.

D4vd, known for moody indie-pop hits, had recently gained significant popularity, but has since retreated from the public eye since the discovery of the remains.
