On Sunday, Daniel Kinahan, a 49‑year‑old mastermind of a global drug and firearms network, stood in the Special Criminal Court in Dublin after being extradited from Dubai where he was arrested in April.
Kinahan faces charges of directing a criminal organisation’s activities between October 2015 and April 2017, a period during which the cartel allegedly trafficked tonnes of drugs and firearms across the globe for more than twenty years.
In court, he was remanded in custody and publicly remarked, “I think we all know I won’t be getting bail.” His appearance took place in a non‑jury court designed for serious organising‑crime cases.
