Bill Gates Testifies on Epstein Ties Amid Climate‑Funding Push
Billionaire Bill Gates appeared before the House Oversight Committee to explain his brief relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and to clarify that no criminal activity was shared. Gates said he "never went to his island, the ranch, or his Florida home" and that he was never involved in Epstein’s alleged wrongdoing.
When confronted about how long he had been in contact with the convicted sex offender, Gates revealed that he had met Epstein during an early attempt to secure philanthropic support for his health and climate projects. He cut ties in 2014 after it became clear that Epstein was unable to deliver on fundraising commitments.
Gates also addressed personal allegations circulating in draft emails. He denied any knowledge of illicit activity and condemned the claims that Epstein had used his personal affairs to coerce him. "I have never victimized anyone," he said, adding that he hopes perpetrators of Epstein’s crimes receive justice.
Climate and philanthropy focus
Alongside confronting the Epstein controversy, Gates underscored his ongoing investment in climate solutions. He suggested that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s work includes expanding renewable energy research and reducing carbon footprints worldwide. Gates framed his involvement with Epstein as a regrettable episode that had no bearing on his commitment to sustainable futures.
The testimony comes after the Department of Justice released a trove of documents linking Gates to Epstein in photographs and emails. Gates maintains that he was unaware of Epstein’s criminal background and that he took precautions after learning of potential misconduct.
