Rear Adm. Ali Shamkhani, an essential figure in Iran's political sphere and senior adviser to the supreme leader, was thought to be deceased following a missile strike by Israel on June 13. However, he was recently seen attending a funeral service in Tehran, where he was struggling to walk with a cane, revealing he survived the attack but with life-altering injuries. The Israeli military strike targeted Shamkhani while he was in his penthouse duplex located in an affluent area of Tehran. The attack was part of a broader military operation aimed at Iran's nuclear infrastructure, missile production facilities, and gas refineries. Reports from Iran state media depicted the damage as catastrophic, showing collapsed ceilings and floors littered with debris. Initially, there was a widespread belief that the Rear Admiral had not survived, as he had not been seen publicly since the incident.Once considered one of Iran's most influential figures due to his longstanding role in national security discussions and nuclear negotiations, the admiral, at 69, has now emerged weakened, his appearance marked by weight loss and a hunched posture.Data from the Iranian government claims that the military operations resulted in approximately 935 civilian lives lost, including many women and children. Furthermore, it is reported that around 30 military personnel were also among the casualties. Shamkhani's presence at the funeral, dressed in a black suit and visibly frail, has stirred discussions around the current dynamics of power and conflict within Iran and its ongoing battles against the backdrop of international tension.
