Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has been injured in a car accident in the US state of New Hampshire, according to his security guard.
Giuliani's car was struck from behind at high speed while traveling on a highway, according to a statement on social media.
He was diagnosed with a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations and contusions, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg, the statement from security guard Michael Ragusa added.
Giuliani, famously known as America's Mayor for his leadership during 9/11, later served as an adviser and personal lawyer to Donald Trump.
The incident occurred shortly after Giuliani had helped an alleged victim of domestic violence who flagged him down on the road. Mayor Giuliani immediately rendered assistance and contacted 911, the statement continued.
The BBC has reached out to local police for comments regarding the accident.
