Police in Mumbai have apprehended a man linked to the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. The incident occurred early Thursday morning at the actor's residence in the affluent Bandra district. During the altercation with an unidentified assailant, Khan sustained multiple stab wounds and underwent surgery. Medical professionals reported he is now stable and recovering.
According to nurse Eliyama Philip, who works for Khan's family, the confrontation erupted when she noticed a shadowy figure approaching while tending to Khan's son. The intruder reportedly brandished a wooden object and a knife, demanding a significant sum of money. A tumultuous struggle ensued, resulting in injuries to both Khan and his staff, and Khan ultimately confronted the attacker leading to his wounds.
Dr. Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital revealed that Khan's injuries were serious, including a knife lodged near his spine, which required prompt surgical intervention to prevent lasting damage. As Khan begins his recovery, he is required to take precautions and limit movement for the next week.
Authorities have collected CCTV footage to assist in the investigation, but the weapon has not yet been recovered. Mumbai's Deputy Commissioner, Dixit Gadam, indicated that the intruder gained access through a fire escape ladder, and efforts are ongoing to uncover how he managed to enter the apartment without detection.
