A freight train crashed into a double-decker bus in central Mexico, leading to a tragic outcome with at least 10 people dead and over 40 injured, as confirmed by local authorities.

The collision occurred while the bus, operated by Herradura de Plata, was attempting to cross a railway line in the industrial zone south of Atlacomulco, located just outside Mexico City.

According to CCTV footage broadcast by local media, the bus was struck by the train on Monday morning. In response to this incident, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, the train's operating company, expressed their condolences to the victims' families and urged drivers to abide by railroad stop signs to prevent future tragedies.

Emergency crews have been working tirelessly to rescue victims from the wreckage, many of whom have been transported to nearby hospitals. Reports from the scene indicate severe damage to the bus, including a missing roof and shattered front windows.

The State of Mexico's attorney general's office identified the deceased as seven women and three men, while several individuals sustain critical injuries.

This accident is part of a troubling pattern, as Mexico has experienced multiple deadly bus crashes this year, with incidents leaving dozens dead in previous months.

Authorities continue their investigation into the crash, collaborating with both bus and train companies involved to gather more information and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
