**Gaza Faces Dire Food Crisis as Malnutrition Rises Dramatically**

The World Food Programme reports alarming levels of hunger and malnutrition among Gaza's population amid intensified conflict.

The situation in Gaza grows increasingly dire as nearly a third of its inhabitants go days without food, with urgent calls for international action.

Despite ongoing conflict, nearly one-third of Gaza's residents are enduring severe food shortages, according to a stark warning from the UN's World Food Programme (WFP). As the humanitarian crisis escalates, reports indicate that 90,000 women and children urgently require treatment due to rising malnutrition levels. The fatalities attributed to malnutrition have reached 122 since the outbreak of hostilities, as nine more individuals succumbed to starvation on Friday.

Israeli authorities have denied any claims of limitations on humanitarian aid entering the territory, often pointing fingers at Hamas as the root cause of the ongoing malnourishment. Furthermore, discussions about airdropping aid supplies into Gaza have emerged, although agencies contend that such actions are far less effective compared to other forms of assistance. Recent media reports hinted at possible aid drops facilitated by the United Arab Emirates and Jordan; however, a Jordanian official confirmed that they are yet to receive authorization from Israel.

International pressure mounts as countries like Germany, France, and the UK call for a complete lifting of restrictions on aid into Gaza, addressing what they refer to as a catastrophic humanitarian emergency. Their joint statement emphasized the necessity for Israel to adhere to international humanitarian law, condemning the withholding of essential assistance to civilians as unacceptable.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed profound disappointment regarding the global community's inaction, criticizing the evident indifference towards the suffering experienced by the Palestinian population. He highlighted worrying statistics, revealing that over 1,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in attempts to secure food since late May, prompting calls for more effective responses to the crisis.

Additionally, former US security contractor Anthony Aguilar recounted witnessing alarming levels of violence against civilians while working in Gaza for a humanitarian organization. Contrasting this, the organization dismissed his claims as originating from a disgruntled former contractor.

As negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release continue to falter, US President Donald Trump's comments suggested a lack of motivation from Hamas to reach a deal, further complicating the already volatile situation. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict intensified following a deadly assault by Hamas on southern Israel on 7 October, which consequently led to significant military actions by Israel resulting in massive casualties in Gaza.

The ongoing blockade of aid, which began in March, has contributed to worsening conditions, despite a temporary easing in later months. Current estimates suggest that over 90% of Gaza's homes are damaged or destroyed, leaving its population displaced and desperate for assistance in a crumbling humanitarian landscape.
