Taiwanese boy band F4 surprised fans with a charming reunion performance at a Mayday concert, evoking memories of their iconic past.

The boy band's appearance brought back nostalgia and excitement among concertgoers, leading to calls for a dedicated tour.

In a heartwarming surprise, Taiwanese boy band F4 delighted fans with an unexpected reunion on Saturday during a Mayday concert at Taipei Arena. The quartet took the stage to perform their beloved ballad “Meteor Rain,” stirring nostalgia in the hearts of the 40,000 attendees who joyously sang along. This song, which served as the theme for the hit 2001 TV drama “Meteor Garden,” launched F4—comprised of Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Vic Chou, and Ken Chu—into superstardom.

“Meteor Garden," an adaptation of the popular Japanese manga "Boys Over Flowers," captivated millions across Asia and significantly popularized the "idol drama" genre. The show followed a working-class girl, portrayed by Barbie Hsu, who navigated her life among four wealthy, arrogant boys—collectively known as F4. Following its success, the series inspired numerous adaptations, including versions in Japan, South Korea, China, and Thailand.

Although F4 disbanded in 2009, they briefly reunited for a performance in 2013 during the Spring Festival Gala on Chinese television. Fans had speculated about a reunion after Mayday's lead singer Ashin spoke about the effort it took to gather all four members together again. “Everyone encountered various obstacles to make this reunion come true,” he stated.

The concert also featured F4 performing Mayday’s “The Song of Laughter and Forgetting,” further enlivening the evening. Yan expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to relive such moments with his fellow band members, stating, “This is something I could not have imagined happening again in my lifetime.” Wu echoed his sentiments, thanking the audience for sharing that remarkable evening.

Fans reacted with overwhelming enthusiasm, expressing their desire for F4 to embark on a dedicated concert tour. Posts on social media buzzed with excitement, with one fan proclaiming, “Thank you Mayday!! My childhood is alive.” Amid the celebratory atmosphere, rumors surfaced regarding F4 possibly scheduling a concert next year, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of their debut, although this has yet to be confirmed by the band or their representatives.
