Arrest Made in Shocking Stabbing of Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan

Mumbai police have apprehended a suspect linked to the recent stabbing of acclaimed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his residence, an incident that has sent shockwaves across India. The actor was brutally attacked by an intruder last week, leaving him needing surgery for multiple stab wounds. Following rigorous investigations, authorities announced the arrest of Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national accused of unlawfully residing in India. The lawyer representing Shehzad has denied these allegations, suggesting that he is not from Bangladesh and claiming his client is a "scapegoat" in the unfolding situation.

Shehzad was captured in Thane, an area situated on the outskirts of Mumbai, and according to police officials, he relocated to the city around six months ago. He had reportedly been working at a local housekeeping agency under a fictitious identity. According to insights provided by Dixit Gedam, a deputy commissioner of police in Mumbai, Shehzad entered Khan's home with the alleged intent to commit robbery. Following the arrest, a Mumbai court ordered five days of police custody for the suspect.

The attack on Khan, who was stabbed six times, has ignited serious discussions regarding safety measures in Mumbai—often regarded as India's financial hub and one of the most densely populated cities. The incident took place late at night, with Khan's personal nurse, Eliyama Philip, recounting her close encounter with the assailant who brandished a knife and demanded a ransom of 10 million rupees (approximately $115,477; £94,511). During her attempt to protect themselves, a struggle ensued, resulting in injuries for both Ms. Philip and Khan, who bravely intervened in the assault.

Following the attack, authorities detained several individuals for questioning, though they were later released after not being connected to the crime. CCTV footage captured the assailant fleeing the scene, adding another layer to the investigation.
