**Escalating Atrocities in Sudan: Over 100 Civilians Massacred Amid Ongoing Conflict**
Sudan faces a humanitarian crisis as paramilitary forces continue to commit large-scale atrocities against civilians.
More than 100 civilians, including 21 children, have been killed by paramilitary fighters in Sudans’ ongoing civil conflict, according to the Sudan Doctors Network. The attack occurred on Thursday in the city of Nahud, which had been under control of the Sudanese military, situated along a crucial highway connecting to Darfur—a region that has turned into a stronghold for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
This heinous violence serves as a grim reminder of the escalating crisis in Sudan, as over 542 civilians have died in the past three weeks alone, with U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk warning that the actual numbers may be much higher. "The horror unfolding in Sudan knows no bounds," he stated, expressing fears about further impending violence, as RSF has forewarned of "bloodshed" amid heightened confrontations.
While the Sudanese military expelled RSF fighters from Khartoum in March, the paramilitary group has since been asserting control over regions, declaring its own governance structures. Reports indicate a systematic assault on civilian life; the Sudan Doctors Network documented a mass atrocity carried out by RSF on the night of the Nahud attack, which involved the looting of hospitals, pharmacies, and medical supply warehouses alongside civilian executions.
The continuous violence not only exacerbates the humanitarian crisis but also underscores the urgent need for international intervention to safeguard the lives of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of this relentless civil war in Sudan.
