On a seemingly normal day, 17-year-old Aryan Asari, a high school student from Ahmedabad, found himself at the epicenter of one of India’s worst aviation tragedies. He was filming planes from his father's terrace when he saw an Air India Dreamliner 787-8 crash just after takeoff, leaving a devastating mark on both him and the community.

Aryan had always been fascinated by airplanes, as he would often rush outside at the sound of aircraft flying overhead. He had just moved to Ahmedabad from his ancestral village, excited to capture aerial views of planes soaring high above the urban skyline. But that excitement turned to horror when he witnessed the plane descend erratically before crashing into a nearby residential area.

"I saw it wobble and crash," he recounted during an interview, reflecting the undeniable shock etched on his face as he filmed the incident on his phone. The video, which went viral, has become critical evidence for investigators investigating the crash that claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew members, alongside nearly 30 others on the ground.

The family's life dramatically changed following the incident. "We have received countless requests for interviews," said Maganbhai Asari, Aryan’s father, as the demand for Aryan’s story from media outlets overwhelmed them. Despite the attention, the trauma was evident. "My son is so scared he has stopped using his phone," Mr. Asari added, describing the emotional repercussions of that day.

The Asari family had been preparing for a simple visit, with Aryan accompanying his sister, who was in town for an entrance examination. What started as a day filled with aspirations quickly turned into a nightmare for the family. After the crash, Aryan's father rushed home to find his son frantic and terrified.
