In her appearance on the "Work in Progress" podcast hosted by actress Sophia Bush, Michelle Obama discussed her newfound freedom in managing her own schedule, proudly declaring herself a "grown woman." She expressed frustration over the perception that her decisions were misunderstood, leading to assumptions of a marital breakdown.

"I'm controlling my own calendar now, and still, people can’t fathom that it’s me making a decision. They just jump to the conclusion that my husband and I are splitting up," she remarked. Obama shared the guilt many women feel when it comes to prioritizing their needs over others, highlighting how society often doesn’t recognize these personal choices.

"I chose to do what was best for me. Not what I had to do. Not what I thought other people wanted me to do," she asserted, signaling a reclaiming of agency. Even with her absence from certain functions, Michelle Obama reassured listeners of her ongoing commitment to important causes, such as girls' education.

Last October, the couple celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. In her bestselling memoir, "Becoming," Michelle Obama previously detailed the challenges she faced during Barack Obama’s presidency, emphasizing the intricacies of balancing personal and public life.
