Ukraine has come under heavy Russian bombardment overnight, with a child among three people killed in Kyiv, Ukrainian officials reported early on Thursday.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated the attack on Ukraine's capital was massive, confirming at least 24 injuries. The bombardment led to the collapse of a five-storey building in the Darnytski district, with fires reported in several locations, including a high-rise residential building in the neighbouring Dnipro district.

This wave of attacks has followed significant drone strikes that left over 100,000 Ukrainian homes without power, impacting energy infrastructure throughout the country.

In a post on Telegram, Tymur Tkachenko, the head of Kyiv's military administration, shared that the deceased child was a 14-year-old girl, with at least five other children injured by the drone strikes. More than twenty districts were targeted, leading to extensive property damage, including at kindergartens.

The fighting continues as both sides seek a resolution. Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump has initiated international discussions aimed at achieving a possible ceasefire, engaging with European leaders and Russian officials in a bid to manage the ongoing conflict.

As the situation unfolds, local military officials urge citizens to remain in shelters during these alarming attacks. The international community watches closely, hoping for improvement in the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Ukraine.
