A massive attack by Russia against Ukraine's capital has killed four people and injured at least eight others, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

Drones hit several regions overnight, including Zaporizhzhia, where at least 16 people, including three children, were injured, authorities said.

Ukraine's foreign minister indicated that hundreds of drones and missiles were deployed in the latest attacks across Ukraine. Russia has not commented.

On Saturday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia would not stop with his country, suggesting that it was testing European air defenses with recent incursions in several NATO member states.

Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and has continuously rebuffed international efforts to end the conflict. Zelensky stated, Putin will not wait to finish his war in Ukraine. He will open up some other direction. Nobody knows where. He wants that.

He spoke just hours before the latest Russian barrage began impacting Ukrainian cities. Further details are still emerging.

In neighboring Poland, jets were scrambled early on Sunday as Russia targeted western Ukraine, according to the Polish armed forces. These measures have become routine since Polish and NATO aircraft shot down three Russian drones in Polish airspace on September 10.

Denmark also accused Moscow of flights over its airports, attributing the incidents to a purported professional actor without naming a specific party. Estonia has accused Russia of violating its airspace with warplanes.

Following these incursions, NATO has initiated missions to strengthen its eastern flank. Former U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that NATO nations should shoot down Russian planes found in their airspace.

Moreover, Trump has recently hinted that Ukraine could regain all lost territory from Russia, a notable shift in the discourse surrounding the war.

In a speech at the UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Russia does not intend to attack EU or NATO member states but cautioned of a decisive response to any aggression directed at Moscow.
