Israeli drone strikes near Damascus have killed six Syrian soldiers, Syria's government reported, amidst a series of attacks this week.

The Syrian foreign ministry condemned the strikes as a violation of international law and an infringement on its sovereignty.

After multiple strikes on Wednesday, Israeli forces reportedly conducted an airborne landing at a former military site in the area. There are conflicting reports about the nature and duration of this operation.

Israel's military refrained from commenting on the foreign reports, while Defence Minister Israel Katz stated on X that forces are operating in all combat zones day and night for the security of Israel.

Since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad, Israel has conducted numerous strikes across Syria, claiming to prevent weapons from falling into extremist hands. This year alone, Israel has reportedly carried out 95 attacks, including both air strikes and land operations, as per the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The latest attack occurred as Syrian troops were addressing recently discovered surveillance devices in the region.

Further air strikes were reported on Wednesday near the location where Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa was present at the Damascus International Fair.

Details about the reported Israeli landing at the former military site remain unclear, with some sources indicating a prolonged presence of Israeli soldiers equipped for searches.

This violent escalation arises even as Israel and Syria engage in deconfliction talks, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the two major players in the region.
